Review of Sit, Stay, Fetch Part 2

Wow! I finally got through reading everything included in the standard package of the Sit, Stay, Fetch program. And I must admit, you get quite a lot for your money. So let’s take a more detailed look at what’s included in the standard package. Just keep in mind that some of these are bonuses and can change at any time. For the most current bonus offers check out the actual product at Sit, Stay, Fetch.

The Main book: SitStayFetch – Dog Training to Stop Your Dog’s Behavior Problems

The book is a downloadable PDF file which is 272 pages. It is well organized into appropriate sections – with 9 overall sections covering basic information on selecting a dog and caring for dogs, training methods, advanced training, tricks, and common behavior problems. There are case studies on some of the more common behavior problems. Then there is a section discussing various health issues affecting our dogs.

One of the things that impressed me were the number of pictures illustrating some of the training techniques. When it comes to learning how to do something like training my dog it is sometimes hard for me to visualize what they are trying to describe so this was a really nice addition.

It is a long read which might take you some time to complete, but I believe it makes for very interesting reading. Also, don’t forget that you also get the audio version of this book so you can download it to your favorite MP3 player or burn it to a CD to listen while you are driving. Hey you can even have it handy while you are actually training your dog. That way you can go back to the part you are working on without having to print out the entire training guide and lugging it around.

BONUSES

A quick guide to dog aggression

This is a 28 page report on dealing with dog aggression. It covers such topics as…

  • Which dog breeds are more aggressive
  • Types of aggression problems
  • Case studies
  • Dealing with food aggression
  • Dealing with a dog who bites

It contains some pretty good information, but if my dog had a serious aggression problem I don’t think I would try to rely on this a source of correction. I would seek professional help.

All the house training methods and tricks

This one is a 12 page report on house training. It introduces the direct method of house breaking and then discusses the paper training method. After that the rest of the report is pretty much a compilation of a dozen or so tips. I think it is a worthwhile resource to help you while trying to house train your dog.

Dog Grooming Made Easy

This one is another short report at 16 pages.  It is a basic resource providing you with tips on grooming your dog. Nothing overly special in my opinion. It does have several nice photos.

Tips on How to Security Train Your Dog

This is a short report that is only 14 pages. Quite frankly, I really don’t see many people having much use for this one. For example, Misha is a 10 pound Schnoodle, so I highly doubt she would make a good guard dog. Open-mouthed

Having said that it is a pretty interesting report, although it mostly a discussion of the various breeds that would make good guard dogs. As with the report on aggression, I would suggest you find a professional trainer if you are seriously consider training your dog for security purposes. A lot can go wrong if you don’t understand what you are doing. The author does emphasize this as well in the report.

Secrets to Becoming an Alpha Dog

Rather short report filled with tips on becoming the alpha dog. I just skimmed over this one as I have no real interest in becoming an alpha dog. I personally follow a lot of Caesar Milan’s pack leader philosophy. Just my personal beliefs.

Recipe book

There are about 180 recipes in this 202 page book. Most of the recipes include photos as well. In my opinion, this book alone would be worth the price of the standard package. It includes recipes on…

  • breakfast
  • natural dog foods
  • healing foods
  • treats
  • cookies
  • desserts
  • cakes

I wish I was able to prepare some of these things for Misha, but I am a bit lazy and I just feed commercial dog food. Perhaps someday I will take the leap and try out some of these things. When I do I will let you know. However, if you are interested in making homemade stuff for your dog then this is a must have book for your collection.

So there you have it. My overview of the standard package of the SitStayFetch program. In the next part I will talk about the videos and the software that’s included in the premium package. After that I will start seriously working with Misha and some of the training techniques and submit posts to keep you up to date on how we are coming along.

Again, if you want to take a look at the program for yourself you can do so here.
